She won the Grand Prix at the 11th Nicola audition and became a regular model for the magazine until 2011. She also appeared in various commercials, music videos, and variety shows during this period. She made her acting debut in 2009 with a supporting role in the Fuji TV drama Tokyo Dogs. In 2010, she had her first lead role in the P&G Pantene drama special Hatsukoi Chronicle. She was also selected as "Face of the Year" by Nikkei Trendy in 2010.

In 2011, she graduated from Nicola and stated that "from now on, I will focus on acting." She landed her breakthrough role as Haruhi Fujioka in the live-action adaptation of the manga and anime Ouran High School Host Club, which aired on TBS in 2011 and was followed by a movie in 2012.
